WINGS HOMELESS ADVOCACY IS COMMITTED TO LIVING OUT OUR VALUES OF COMPASSION, DIGNITY AND RESPECT FOR ALL PEOPLE BY UNITING OUR COMMUNITY TO BE VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES FOR THOSE MOVING OUT OF HOMELESSNESS AND ONTO A PATH OF HEALING --WORKING TOGETHER TO END CHRONIC HOMELESSNESS IN SANTA CRUZ COUNTY.
HOUSING AND HEALING IN ACTION
What we do
Working with community professionals from over a dozen local agencies, Wings acts as advocates to some of the most vulnerable, chronically homeless individuals in our community.
Our volunteers provide rides to medical and court appointments, find furniture and provide trucks and strong backs for new move-ins and help people fill out the confusing paperwork needed to get housing assistance. We also provide newly housed individuals and families with a new refurbished mattress and a laundry basket filled with new, basic household supplies to get them started enjoying their newfound sense of belonging.
Wings supports the national Housing First model proven to save lives and public resources. We work with the community to support efforts for permanent, supportive housing for all of our homeless neighbors. Members of Wings have found the best way to advocate for a homeless participant is as simple as caring. One volunteer’s encouragement can make all the difference in helping a chronically homeless person make a 180 degree change in their life.

In the storage room of a homeless advocacy nonprofit, baby blue washing tubs of new-home supplies are crammed with practical things such as coffee cups, toilet plungers and paper towels.
Who we are
Wings is a group of caring advocates from our community who are dedicated to supporting individuals in their walk out of homelessness. Working exclusively with professional case managers, we connect a volunteer with a homeless participant to help them obtain resources needed to become housed and self-sufficient. But more importantly, we provide compassion and respect that instills confidence and ultimately shows participants that they can, indeed, succeed on their own.
"I wanted to say thank you because of what your team means to me. I can't express to you fully how relieved I am knowing Sara is taking my clients grocery shopping. They LOVE her, and the check-in information she provides back is tremendously helpful."
